valve cover question: oil cap

Doing an oil change tomorrow on my new to me ZJ. Can anyone tell why there are oil filler ports/caps on BOTH valve covers? Never seen this before. Figure I'd just split the diff. 2.5 qts. in one side and 2.5 in other.

That does not sound like stock.

I have only seen the 318/360 blocks with the oil cap on the passenger (NA passenger) side of the block. Sounds like someone replaces the driver side valve cover with a passenger side

Either way, you don't have to pour half and half, just pour all down the passenger side, it will end up in the crankcase either way.

I bought my '94 new, and there is a fill cap on each valve cover. I find it easier to fill via the passenger side.
EMT is right, it all winds up in the same place... no splitting needed.

Two oil caps was a highly sought after factory option! you sir have a rare vehicle!

but seriously, in the earl years of the magnum V8, they used that set up. yep its funny looking. I think they did it to confuse the ill informed.
