Trouble with LED's

I've replaced all my interior and exterior lighting w/ Polarg M series Hyper White Bulbs. Unfortunately they don't make a 3157 size bulb that replaces the front parking light / turn signal bulb. I've tried other types and they're just not bright enough - they look too yellow. I recently attempted to replace them w/ LED's, but when the blinker was activated it blinked extremely fast and then burnt out the fuse. These were the only bulbs that actually looked the way I wanted them to. Looking for any insight on why these LED's weren't compatible. Does anyone have LED"s installed on their Jeeps? Thanks

Its a resistance thing. The LEDs have a much lower resistance than the regular bulbs do. Meaning more current flow (blown fuse) and usually some type of indicator either on the info system or the fast blinking indicating the bubl is bad. If you really want the LEDs to work, the only method I know of is measuring the factory bulbs resistance then the LEDs, find that difference and put that amount inline of the wireing for the LEDs. I believe you will have to do this for each LED you put in. I have only seen it done but have never done it myself. Too much work for the small benifit to me personally. Hope this helps

justjeepin: you are correct about the ohms being the same. Some LEDs come with resistors built into them, otherwise you must add them.

This site is cool:

I tried the same thing and just didn't like the brightness at all. I went back to new bulbs. But justjeepin is correct with the resistors. I got my leds from that same superlumination link. There is another link in a different thread ....saw it yesterday....and they even said what would happen and you would need resistors and all the safety warnings and so on....I will see if I can find that link and post it here.

That would great; I would like to read up on it a little bit more. The weird thing about it is that the reverse lights take the same bulb and I replaced them no problem with a pair of the Polrg M series. For some reason they won't click in to the front ones.
