transmission wont shift into second

I was haveing a lovely day until my transmission started to act up. I was on my way to pay a bill when the transmisson would not shift in to second gear. So I pulled over for a second to check the fluid. The fluid level was fine. So I tried to continue my journey to pay the bill. It did the samething. So I pulled over again. This time I just shut the car off. Then I fired it back up. Then from there on it has been shifting fine. I mean wonderful. It shifts as if was a brand new car. Can someone explain to me what happened and if I should be looking for a new transmission.

p.s. My brother has been driving car lately and he said he has accidently been driving it is 2 gear. I mean he just does it for a tittle while.

Your a lucky one. You should be able to manually shift from 1st > 2nd> drive.
Mines similar, but only does it from 3>4...and only in the first 20 minutes of a ride on a cold day. lol

Ive heard the tranny's are real picky about having JUST the right amount of fluid, if its a little low, you get problems like said
