Transmission wont Shift

Just a quick question as my buddy sprung a possible cause.

My transmission just went 2 weeks ago, it wouldnt shift at all just revd up like crazy but it still moved like you could get up to like 25-30 at like 4k rpms. it does the same thing if you start it in 2nd too. Also reverse grinds badly it sounds like screeching.

Slight background, the trans pan got hung up on a rock at Rausch creek were it punctured a few wholes from the valve body bolts, welded up the whole and replaced the gasket and filled her up, thats when reverse would grind but every other gear worked fine so i played it out.

Than it totally went like i said earlier after cruising on the beach.

I just want to make sure im not overlooking something because the Jeeps for sale for a real low price because i just assumed the tranny went, but id hate for it to be a sensor or something

Why sell it if the tranny is bad? Rebuild it and drive another 100k miles. Doesnt make sense to me. I'd rather put a $1000 into the trans, than sell it. Sounds like its more than a sensor.
