transmission ****er linkage issue

Hi .evidently I spelled shifter wrong..I have a loose something in the shifter linkage on the transmission 94zj v-8 4x4.... The shaft that I assume goes into the throttle body is loose. I had to adjust the shifter all the way to get it to park... Plus now I have to hold it in the low to move forward. As for the shifting it does fine on the shifting part... a little slow but it works.. The speedo quit about a week ago. this has caused it to shift longer. But i guess that is lack of speed input from computers.
Whatever is wrong. it lets the shaft move freely, kinda like moving a straw in a cup, it wiggles all around the small hole
Is the fixing the shaft a hard project... I can see it involves the basic fluid change teardown, And I think the throttle body will need removed. Does removing the throttle body have any spring loaded parts.
Or is this a it's broke and can't be fixed thing. I know without looking its hard to tell what's wrong. But I would like a starting point. Rather than flying in blindly.
Thanks in advance
