In the bay area and i have a 94 5.2 gc limited auto (not sure which one) and it has the 249 in it now with the VC on its way out

Trans would be the 46rh. You would need to swap the input shafts, you probably have the same "old style" gear cut as the yj case. Double check the build day on the transfer case in your jeep to be sure.

It has the same drain plug like the 30mm instead of the allen one. Did the change the gear cut at the same time they switch plugs?

Not really? Do you have the build date for the jeep? If it was built pre 94 it should be good (can't have made the case after the jeep).

Oh, no the case out of the YJ is old style cut and you're fine if your case is too, they changed mid 94.

I am no expert but it looking at the pic he will have to change his speedometer input from his 249 and that case also looks like it is missing the gear select shifter thingy. Contact the seller to see if he has the shifter rod that bolts on the side of the TC. Your 249s will not work.
