transfer case questions 249

so i swapped my 249 out of my jeep for a 231, then my 241 in my dodge blew up so im trying to see if i can make a good tc out of the 249 and 241, my question is how do you get the front ring for the planet out of the case, i pulled the giant snap ring out but its pressed into the housing, is there a special puller for it?

oh and im also selling any of the parts i may not need from the two, all the 241 internals are brand new form the dealer and the 249 worked fine, i just wanted a better 4x4 tc and the 2x option, the reason all the 241 parts are new is because i used all my old internals in the new case

Seems like there is another lock ring.

thanks for the link, im going to give it a read in a min, i hoped to make a 249 with 2 wheel drive but it doesnt look promising, i can still build a good 241 out of the two, the cases are the same the only problem is that front ring is a different pitch because the 249 is made in 94 and the 241 is a 2000, i could also build the 249 with a 6 pinion front planet instead of the three pinion planet that is originally in it, i will keep you guys posted on what i come up with
