transfer case leaking

I have a 96 jgc with the 242 transfer case, I noticed its leaking a bit, upon looking I noticed a small round threaded plug that's on the driver side right behind the linkage , it doesn't appear to be screwed in all the way and seems to be where it is leaking from. what is it and what kind of tool do I need, torx or allen? I can't see the front of it no matter where I look . any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to get all the maintenance done before we get hammered with snow over here in eastern Washington. thanks

ok its actually the front seal leaking and the vss and between and at the seam. needs to come down and be completely resealed, is it something a weekend mechanic can do fairly easily?
