Trans Filter Torque Spec....

In the middle of changing the trans filter on my 97 ZJ with the 42RE... does anyone know what the torque spec is for the transmission filter mounting screws?

Not used to working on transmissions, trying to go by the book as much as possible. If I don't get anything back I'll just tighten til it feels right, then go to church or something

Thanks

35 in/lbs is what the book calls for.

The torque on the filter isn't as important as the torque on the bands. You basically just want it tight enough to not fall out and not so tight as to strip it out.

Bottom line, ajmorell is right but if you have the correct torque wrench, why take the chance, torque it & you can't go wrong.

Yeah, it's been installed for over a day now, but thanks just the same guys! I didn't have a torque wrench that went below 40 in/lbs, so I just did it hand tight. Workin great as of tonight

I just did mine too. No drama, because I frequently hand torque to 35" lbs
