I have not - I have the factory tow package which I believe includes some sort of additional tranny cooling, among other things. I don't believe an add-on cooler is necessary except in extreme conditions.

IIRC, an add-on cooler should not over-cool if it is properly installed . The fluid needs to flow through the cooler first, then through the (factory) radiator cooler. That way, the hot fluid from the tranny gets maximum cooling first, and if it is over-cooled, it flows through the radiator next and will pick up enough heat from the water to keep it at safe operating temperature.

Hey Stocker.....

Your reply brought up a question...

I do not (I believe) have the tow package (I didn't have a hitch but the wiring harness plug and possible the cooler is there...). Anyway, is the small radiator in front of the main radiator the transmission cooler? I had a hitch installed... Thanks

Hah! You're keeping me honest!

I just checked, and my initial reply may have been a bit misleading. First, a reminder - mine is a '95...

I do have a factory trans cooler as part of the tow package. And yes, it's the small one (pass. side) in front of the A/C condensor, which of course is in front of the radiator.

Follow the lines coming from what you think is the transmission cooler -- you'll probably find that they do go to the transmission. Pretty decent stock cooler on a lot of GC's.
