Tranny Problems

I have a 5.9 ZJ and have been having some issues with my transmission. Sometimes from a stop when you try to start going it will not go into gear until you give it a litle gas. Then because the RPM's are up a little it kinda slams into gear. It doesnt do this very often but i cant figure out why it would do this.

It also doesnt seem like its shifting right sometimes, and sometimes if you floor it it will just hti the reve limiter and not shift to a higher gear, but as soon as you let off the gas it will shift.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Could just be a linkage problem, or a computer problem controlling it?

Anyone else had a similair problem? The tranny itself doesnt really seem bad when it running right, it just seems to be having problems shifting right all the time.

Check trans fluid level.
When was the last trans fluid/filter change?
Check adjustment of trans cable at throttle body for correct adjustment.

X2.... Sounds exactly like what happens when the fluid level is low. The pump has to build up pressure because there is not enought fluid and once it does.... BAMM.... now you're moving.

If you are refering to the throttle valve (attaches to tranny and throttle body), there is a square button, at throttle body, that allows adjustment. It's almost impossible to check by yourself. The throttle valve at the tranny should move as soon at the throttle moves. Adjust accordingly.

Since you don't know history of service, better to be safe and change the fluid/filter. You may be surprised how much fresh fluid helps.
