tranny flush today

I am getting a tyranny flush at this very moment and then I am off to get the lube needed to do the diffs and tc myself. What do I need to buy? I am sure that there is a tonne of info but I am limited on time to research.

Thanks. Its greatly appreciated.

I hope you aren't getting an actual transmission flush...I hope you mean just a pan drop, change filter and gasket, put new fluid in. For the TC, ATF+4 is the fluid. All depends on what you do with your Jeep for the differentials. If you tow, use 75W-140 Synthetic or something similar. 90W for just daily driving.

A flush can ruin any transmission with high miles on it. That's just the chance you take.

why is a flush bad?

I have two older cars I've done fluid swaps on. I didn't do an active flush but drained or pumped out fluid a gallon at a time and topped up with a gallon of new. Rinse and repeat for a total of two gallons.
95 Mercury Tracer
95 Subaru Legacy
both at or above 200,000 miles

In both cases I got a distinct improvement in tranny performance. With the Mercury it fixed the occassional slippage I'd get. In the Subaru it fixed the Torgue Bind in my All Wheel drive.
I've heard the warning not to change fluid in an older tranny but it's never been explained what the issue is.

Noob question, what's the harm in flushing a trans? You'd ultimately think it'd clean it up a bit no? I can understand something like an engine + seafoam application that will remove that residual grime at certain points in the block that are healthy (figuratively speaking), but I suppose I don't see it in a transmission setting.

Well. The trans is running great and my MPG have gone up by 3 so far. Now its time for the front and rear difs and tc. There are not any places open today that have AMSOil so its getting a different full synthetic. Suggestions?

Go to Oreilly's and get their store brand synthetic. Cheaper and just as good. Unless you have to have the magic name brand.
