The trailer tow group is a factory installed option to allow you to safely tow a trailer. It consists of a hitch, wiring connection that bypasses the lighting monitor module, a lower final ratio, and transmission fluid cooler.
The tow group comes in a few configurations. First is the trailer prep group, which it sounds like you have. This consists of the transmission cooler and lower final gear ratio. It comes standard on all 5.2L Grands.
Second is the trailer tow group I, which consists of the wiring, final gear, cooler, and a class I hitch.
Third is the trailer tow group III, which consists of all, except it is a class III hitch.
Last is the trailer tow group IV, which oddly enough consists of all before, and a class IV receiver.
