Tow Hooks

So my 98 GC doesn't have tow hooks on the front and I am wondering where is the best place to put them? And where can I get a pair that fits my truck? Thanks for all the help guys.

you need to get hooks with the ZJ brackets. i think quadtatec sell them. or look in a local junkyard. you can just bolt on regular tow hooks. there is no place to put them and the unibody isnt strong enough to have them held on with just 2 bolts.

Since all of your Jeep is sheet metal, you need to use the factory tow hook mounting brackets, in the factory locations, or something similar.

DO NOT bolt on tow hooks without the reinforcement brackets, they will turn into 5 lb bullets when they pull free from the sheet metal.

Find them in the JeepForum classifieds, http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f33/ the InterGoogleNet.com or at the junkyard.

I might still have a set in the shed, send me a Private Message for details.

Yeah I thought so, at the moment I have a UK standard tow bar, was thinking of cutting and welding in some 2" box to fit the various shackle and drop tow ball attachments.

I don't think he is going to find a bunch of used ZJ's to look through at a London Junk Yard. Just taking a wild guess.

I'm in North London (N7) and I've got a couple of tow hooks somewhere that I bought for a G55 when I was in the Middle East but never fitted them. I've a standard UK rear hitch fitted to mine. Think that does the best job. Hooks only so they would need brackets fabricating or fixing to something really solid.

i really beg to differ, i have my front hook off a 1-ton chevy and it got PUT TO WORK and all i have is the front 2 bolts in the driver side unibody, to the point where people were taking 10-15 feet slack and trying to jerk me out of a hole a week or two ago and i dont see and stress in the frame or anything at all.

Wow... great testimony for the future wrongful death lawsuit. Nice. Yes lawyers have access to the internet too
