Top End 4.0 4-speed auto

Anyone know the top speed one can go with a stock 4.0 Grand Cherokee, 4-speed automatic? Rather not get a speeding ticket just to find out

That seems awful low. I would think more in the range of 100. I got my 20 year old 400,000 mile 4.0 xj past the needle, (85) and my 5.9 easily past 90 (stopped because I had a nasty vibe. I'm sure she has more in her).

Had my 95 doing at least 110. 42-RE, 4-slow and all. That's with 3.55's and stock sized tires.

To the two posters that said they had their '94 and '95 4.0's going 110 and 120...

You're full of crap. My slightly modified 4.0 with 3.73's will touch 100, then shift into overdrive and DROP speed. No overdrive puts the RPM's way too high up to pull any harder and will hit the rev limiter.

Not to mention, it takes a good long stretch of road to hit 100 in a 4.0, 80-100 is like waiting on a woman to get ready. Oh, and the speedometer only goes up to 100 anyways.

And you think this is smart? It's a JEEP, not a sports car. This kind of thread just incites people who believe this BS to try something foolish and dangerous.
