Tire size match to lift size
I'm looking at buying a GC 96 or 97 in the next couple days and was trying to figure out tire size.
Option 1- Stock Tires and 2" Coil Lift Option 2- 31"x12.5"x15" with 3.5" Tuff Country Suspension Lift and Rancho Shocks Option 3- 33"x12.5"x15" with same suspension Lift and Shocks but also 2" BB I guess I wanna know what modifications I would have to do. And if this will all fit. Any suggestions. Thanx

33" tires on stock gearing in the 4.0L will be pretty slooooowww.
I have 3.55's and 31" tires, and it is about as big of a tire as I would go without regearing to something like 4.10's. Definately don't go with stock. It isn't the way a Jeep was meant to be. ![]() Option two sounds great to me. You might have some rubbing with that wide of a tire. Spacers or some trimming will help you with that though. You might try and get something other than Rancho shocks. I have them and they are a very stiff ride. They are some of the stiffest shocks out there is what I've heard.

Option 1- Stock Tires and 2" Coil Lift
It'll be hard to find a 2 inch coil lift unless you mean the coil spring spacer. You'll need new shocks with that unless you plan on replacing the stock ones very soon. Option 2- 31"x12.5"x15" with 3.5" Tuff Country Suspension Lift and Rancho Shocks This option is okay except, the 31 x 12.50 tires are going to be very wide and you'll need a shallow backspaced wheel like around 3 inches to not bub the tires everywhere. Option 3- 33"x12.5"x15" with same suspension Lift and Shocks but also 2" BB Yes, you'll be able to run 33s with minor to medium metal trimming and with wheels with 3.75 to 4 inches of backspacing. You'll be sucking down the gas with the stock 4.0 and 3.55 gears so badly that you'll hate your jeep. Hunter

DON'T GET THE TUFF COUNTRY SUSPENSION LIFT!!!!!
Go with the 3.5" Rubicon Express, Kevin's or Rusty's. My front LCA bushings died with less than 40,000 miles. The springs have sagged a half inch in the front and over an inch in the rear in 50,000 miles. My rear LCA bushings are going. You have to redrill the trackbar. It's noisy and others that I've run into running these lifts on TJ's are also noisy. Don't waste your money on a cheap lift like this. You get what you pay for, and now only a couple years after the lift was installed, I'm replacing parts in an attempt to keep her roadworthy.

I don't want to have to trim fensers or anything. So I guess i'll go with 31"x10.5"x15'' Mud Terrains and a 3.5" lift now should i add a 2 Coil Spacer or just go like that it's not like there that expensive will it not cause them to rub? Also Rancho or Procomp Springs?
Thanx |
