YES you should go with the +3 for the T-case and my diffs get 75-90 cheap stuff cause I change it out twice a year.
Down here we have Auto Zone and they have the +3 for $2 and change a quart, the diff oil is cheaper then that.
I use gray RTV silicone for the front and rear gaskets. I use about a tube and a little more....so get 2 tubes just in case.
Since you are all ready getting wet with fluids, why not do a tranny filter, it's messy but easy.

I would rather put the more pricy diff fluid in and forget about it for 50,000 miles. I am not going to do the tranny becuse it was done only 4,000 miles ago. Thanks for your opinion.

Sorry, let me rephrase that. I have no choice in changing my diff fluid so often.
I am regularly in deep water, my gear oil suffers and putting good stuffs in would be like putting high test in a VW bug.
Oil is still pretty cheap, the good stuffs shouldn't break the bank account.

No one knows what you are asking!

Diff fluid is cheap and the same for ZJ or WJ.
T-Case takes plus 3 (+3). ZJ or WJ It's been written here a million times by others, so you don't have to take my word. Do a search.
A call to Chrysler parts dept will give you all the prices you need. Should be under $30 for all the fluid you need, if that is what you call high priced, then we are in different worlds.
Any one can do it with simple tools.
Sorry you don't like my answers,
Andy

DO NOT USE TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR YOUR TRANSFER CASE.......PREMATURE FAILURE WILL RESULT!!!!!!

You need to go to the dealer and get the special 247J transfer case fluid. Its like $7 a quart and you need 2. As for the diffs, you need a total of 5 quarts of 75w-140 SYNTHETIC and friction modifier for BOTH diffs. All the fluids will run you about $70 if you DIY.

Good Luck

right in the manual it says you can use AFT+3 in the t-case. Have you heard differently?

BTW how do you like that flowmaster on your 4.7? I was thinking of getting one for mine.

i use ATF+3 in my trans and T-case. no probs here and I push my ZJ hard - towing jetskis at 80mph up hills on the interstate from NJ to TN or to Canada etc...

I put mobile 1 in the diffs because i heard it helps with heat issues when towing.

is the addative necessary in the rear diff when using mobile 1?

why do I need the addative in the front? thought it was just for the limited slip of the rear...

I'll change it this weekend and put the addative in both if necessary.. let me know.

There was an amendment to the owners manual in late 99 and up. Trust me, use only the special fluid for your t-case (unless you like rebuilding t-cases). The t-case fluid is only available from the dealer, and you're best off getting the diff fluid and F/M from there too. You rarely hear of people having drivetrain problems when using factory fluids. Ask the dealer about the 247J fluid, they'll tell you.

The only T-cases that need the special fluid is the NV247 used in quadra-drive and quadra-trac II systems. The gerotor pump will fail if other oil is used. All other t-cases can use tranny fluid.

Check out Wjjeeps.com for tons of good info.

The flowmaster sounds nice, mellow, and dosen't drone much.

OK thanks. I'll be sure to swing by the dealer and get my t-case fluid. I'm glad you said something before I went and did the changes.
