Ticking sound from the Fuel Tank

After I parked my 97 ZJ today, I thought I heard a ticking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. It was loud enough and I was able to trace it to the fuel tank. The fuel lines as they connect with the fuel tank were making the ticking sound, It was coming from the inside the tank though. It is almost the same sound of the exhaust pipes when you park a vehicle after a long drive.
Is this normal in Jeep trucks? is the fuel pump making this sound? does this mean something is wrong? any clues anyone? thanks.
