Throttle cable end fangle
The steel end of my approximately 6 month old Crown throttle cable pulled through the plastic end a week ago. The dealer no longer carries a new cable. The end of the pedal arm has a 3/8" hole in it so I decided to fabricate a new end out of a 3/8" socket head bolt. See the picture below. I cut the bolt shorter, drilled a stepped hole into the threaded end, drilled the socket deeper to match the stock plastic end, cut a slot to slide the cable through, and rounded off all the edges to protect the cable. I am going to keep an eye on the cable to check for wear. It works, not any better or worse than the factory cable though. I'll probably look around the junkyard to see if a cable from a different jeep that the dealer stocks might work or just buy a junkyard ZJ cable.
