Teraflex 4" LA kit

OK, I"m considering (or was) this kit which is included in the bottom 2 links
http://www.teraflx.com/pages/jeepbuilder.php?jeepID=34&prodID=88&subID=4
http://www.teraflx.com/pages/jeepbuilder.php?jeepID=34&prodID=182&subID=4

it seems to be lacking upper CA's which I'm not an engineer so how important is this? Clayton's appears to have upper and lower arms as well as a better system of mounting them to the unibody.

Please don't reply with "just go with claytons" as I know it's better, I'm just trying to learn the way this works (suspension geometry etc)

thanks

I have heard mixed reviews of Tereflex, but if you're looking at a 4" Long Arm, also consider IRO.

I Have the long arm kit which works fabulious. You are right, the system does not come with upper control arms but if you wish for a little extra money you can purchase the uppers.

I do not have the uppers and the system still works great. I can only imagin I would get even greater articulation with the new upper control arms though. (naturally)

Uhhh do you have a TJ or a WJ ?

If you go for a 4" kit and dont want to go to LA's I'd get the kit from Kolak@aol.com as he will get you the best components into one kit....

It's good to look around, but one thing to consider with the IRO kit, you can install it all your self easily, all though its only front LA's. (If you're talking about the critical bath kit which is bolt on)

Also you dont have to cut off the stock control arm mounts, so you can go back to stock if you had to....

Maybe you aren't getting the hint.

Of the two: Teraflex or Iron Rock Offroad.

Go with ....IRON ROCK!

nowhere in my post did I ever mention IRO's kit. I think I've decided on claytons anyway, I was just curious what people thought about the lack of upper control arms on the teraflex kit.

The IRO kit only has one upper, so not an issue really. We all just think IRO is a better product than Tera. Claytons is however the best.

Sorry, we just offered another option. You wont be upset with claytons though.

Good luck

So,

you're going straight to Longarms? Any wheeling experience with a Grand or other vehicles?

What axle upgrades, grears, wheel/tires are you planning on doing?

well I look at it like this.....
I did a lot of research before buying this GC and looked around until I found exactly what I was looking for. Low mileage, Limited, '04 WJ.
I sold my previous WJ ('99) about a year and a half ago before I went overseas. I had the RE 3" lift on it with 31" tires, 4wd, V8, Quadra-trac etc etc, but in Laredo form.
If I'm going to spend the money I might as well do it right the first time because I'm sure I'll end up going up anyway.
I don't think I'll go over 32 inch tires but you never know.

If I understand correctly, the tera LA kit pairs lower LA's with upper SA's... I'm no engineer, but I would think you'd get a lot of binding and change in driveline angle throughout the range of articulation with that combo.

I was initially excited to see tera's kit, but I like the design of "other (I), non-specific (R), kits (O)" better. ;-)
