TennesseeWJ's Build/Update Thread

Been around for a while but I just now got enough mods done to make a semi-build thread I'm in college and thus that is always my first priority so updates and mods come relatively slowly. I think it's interesting to watch people's rigs get (hopefully) better with time so I figured I'd make this timeline thread so people can keep up with my Jeep and also to give possible future Jeep owners an idea of what they're getting into.

March of 07: Stock 04 WJ purchased after I wrecked my truck. Laredo, 4.0, 242

Mod 1: Browning decals Freebie from a Bass Pro gift certificate I won

August 07: Free Pioneer head unit with Ipod hookup

January 08: 2" BB purchased used for $67 total with 4 Black Diamond shocks given as Christmas present by my girlfriend

The following week: Busted TC rear output shaft seal (probably happened from it moving around when I dropped the suspension for the lift install) $40 bucks and some stress

March 08: $300 bucks worth of maintenance

May 08 - 4 new General Grabber AT2. 265/70/16, no rubbing at full lock or normal street driving. I'll flex it out this weekend and give an update.

Hey, give the guy some credit, that is some steep driveway there .

Looking good so far , but you will rub, no doubt, better start cutting some plastic. Do not disco unless you remove your front bumper cover.

Yeah come on a Civic would never make it up that driveway

Just kidding, I mean I was gonna go wheeling but street tires and no tow hooks I figured I didn't want to end up on the worst stuck thread

I know it will rub at flex, but that's what they make razor blades and cut off wheels for

For now - install my TC skid that's in the garage, front/rear recovery, and then finally take the damn thing wheeling. I'll probably be doing a false floor in the rear to cover up the spare, add some storage, and probably use one of the subs sitting in my closet. After that I'll get around to sliders, bumpers, and then start working on 6" long arms I have two years left at UT for my undergrad and after graduation it's trail rig only time so that's when the LA's and fun stuff begins

Haha, of course it's Pioneer, that's what I get for watching TV while I type. me

I'm all for getting stuck, trust me I used to wheel a 2wd , but only with recovery points (which I just haven't gotten around to buying). Leave it to Jeep to call something trail rated that isn't even trail ready

Dec 08: Installed front recovery points

Off with the bumper

On with the brackets:

before tightening

final product

Also mounted my Mag-Lite on the door. I had planned to mount it on the seat but decided that side panel is just too flimsy.

Hallelujah, Adam finally has tow hooks. I think he is finally ready to hit the dirt.

By the way, get that skid plate mounted up yet?

Thanks. I love them so far. Relatively easy on the wallet and they ride excellent. Not much noise, great grip, and they are wearing very well.
