temp gauge concerns

Just recently I noticed my temp gauge was bouncing. The gauge would read from around 210 where its suppose to and would bounce down to around 170 or so. It does this quite frequently. I have never had this problem and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion i could try. I have checked coolant and it is full. My thoughts are maybe a bad sending unit to the gauge or even a stuck thermostat. Just not fully sure.

probably the sending unit. mine would build up temperature VERY slowly (didnt get to "normal" operating temp until after like 2 hours of driving) then it would slowly drop back down. i replaced the sensor and its been working right.

Might be a bad connection. Reseat and wiggle the plug, see if gauge jumps around.

Check sensor with an ohmmeter.
~100F = 1365 ohms
~210F = 115 ohms
~260F = 55 ohms

Bad wiring connection would create higher resistance which would indicate a lower gauge temp.
