Tcase skid

My trail jeep didn't come with front or t-case skids from the factory. I pulled a t-case skid expecting it to bolt up like the front skid had, but the nuts on the inside of the frame rails aren't there.

So now I've got a decision, should I find a way to mount the tcase skid I have, or if I'm going to be welding to the frame anyway should I just build a stronger one?

The t case skid used nut serts to mount all I did was get a long ratchet drive for where it mounts to the cross member there should be two holes that u can get the ratchet drive down in. Where it mounts to the rail I drilled a 1" hole on the side so I can get a wrench in there to hold a nut then I spray painted the hole and covered it with a rubber plug

I pulled the crossmember with the skid. That way I had the nutserts there. For the frame side, I just used a big *** lag bolt

Well the skid is off my niner, so I don't really want to play move the xmember one jeep to the left (the teggy would get jealous and blow something).

After looking at what some people have done to their t-case skid, I'm thinking I want a bit more beef. Not gonna be driving home if I hit the tcase hard, and I'm a little heavy on the skinny pedal.

I've wacked mine pretty good on several occasions (has the scars to prove it) and has held up very well.

swap to a 231 tcase and you won't hit anything. those stock skids are like anchors. good thing they hold up

to bad you guys are so far away, i have a couple kicking around you could have.

its funny, we are gutting a 95 right now with a crap 249 (maybe whiteout will post the video later lol) and it hangs down a good 3" more than my 231. my 231 sits above the cross member. for a 'skid' i'm literally just going to bolt some flat iron across to the frame rails.

almost a 'flat belly' lol. well nowhere near like the TJs but meh, i still haven't hit it yet.

This is so far the only reason I've considered swapping my 249. Maybe i will just get one of those skids and see how that goes.

The only reason I would drop my 249 is if somebody left a lunched hp30 on my doorstep. I'm not convinced, I've got some 3/16 plate I could tack up for it, or I could play swap the x-member and just tack a bolt plate to the frame. Probably end up depending on how much welding time I have. Gotta make some sliders.
