switching to synthetic

I bought my 98 5.2 about a month ago with 120k. It runs great and blah, blah, blah. I think I might start using mobil 1 10w30. What do you think about switching to a synthetic with high miles on the motor?

well the first question people will ask is whether or not you have even the smallest of leaks anywhere. If you have a leak, it will intensify when you swap to synthetic. If you have no leaks what so ever...then with that many miles you still have a chance of springing one. I have pondered the same question too and I have 136k on mine.

If GOD gave HIS only son for us...can't we at least give HIM an hour of our time a day.

my front and rear main seals have had some very minimal leaking around them for quite some time. i was concerned about switching to synthetic, but i finally did. i have not noticed any increased leaking due to the thinner oil. i have a 4.0 w/ 105k.

I have switched to synthetic on many of my older cars. Lots of Datsun/Nissan Z's and haven't really had any problems. I might have to do it

I just switched my 99 4.0L to synthetic. Mobil 1 5-40 Truck + SUV. No problems, better mpg, and no leaks. I have put about 600 miles on it since it was put in at 79,000.

I switched my abused by previous owner 95ZJ 4.0L with 72K to Mobil 1 and I'm now at 92K and not leaking anywhere!

Try it!

It may cause a cataclysmic, catastrophic, extinction level event!!!!!!
