8.8! I have been thinking about the whole 44a VS. 35 kit idea for a long time.... I think that the best bet is to get an 8.8 axle.. It is alot cheaper than the superior 35 kit... unless you plan on getting the 8.8 locked right away. Thats my $0.02

Why would you go through all the trouble putting in an 8.8 and not locking it?I think it depends on your wallet and driving habits, and your set up..if moneys not a problem go w/the 8.8 .

sorry about stealing the thread.. but how hard is it to connect new brakes? how would you cut off the d35 brackets? does the driveshaft need to be shortened to acomodate a bigger diff? any driveshaft changes?

if you are going to go through all the trouble of replacing the axel just get a real D44. its easy to find used!

Is this for your WJ?

If so, I don't think there is a Super 35 kit available.

There is no super 35 for a WJ and it is near impossible to get a 8.8 to work well in a WJ. You guys suck at making axle sugestions.

The 44a is a nice upgrade from the D35 for a WJ owner. You keep forctory ABS and speedo reading. Unless you are going to run 37's or bigger you don't have anything to worry about on the 44a.

FTCollinsZJ,

for someone who just lifted their jeep, you sure are making some odd statements. I've run the 35 and super 35 with 33s and now with 35s. Mine hasn't broken.

if you go with the 44a you only have one option for a locker which is the Aussie and you will need the open carrier.. also you could truss the 44a to keep the tubes from spinning..

everyone that has an Aussie loves it, even nickerdoodle who seems to have problems with everything he puts on..

Not to meanton custom brakets, becuase you would have to do that in a ZJ also...

Not WJ ABS Compatable. (no ABS)
Not WJ Speedo reading compatable (No speedo/odometer)
Not wide enough... the 8.8 is about 58.5" wide and WJ axels are 63"
Not correct bolt pattern. (8.8 is 5on4.5 and WJ is 5on5)

enough reasons why?

do u actualy want ABS??

and the spedo senso is in the T-case....not the axle...at least in my ZJ and every other jeep i looked at.

i under stand ur reasons and they are good ones....under those conditions, i would proably not do an 8.8 in WJ.
