I'm pretty sure it's because the market is so small that it just wasn't worthwhile.

I have a 2000 ford turbo diesel,7.3 liter and at 7200 lbs empty it would still take a hell of a motor in either of my Grands to beat it. The 7.3 444 cu. in. is in the 450 hp and 650 ft.lbs. of torque range(lots of mods). That's real hard to beat with a gasser. Don't be embarrassed. I dusted a mustang last week with my diesel and he flipped me off, and he's the one that wanted to race.

If you had a 6.1 Hemi SRT in one of the new grands, you might be able to keep up. There are a lot of diesels out there that are sleepers. In other words they don't look fast. One guy has a older Dodge quad cab that pushes 1000 hp and 1200 ft. lbs. of torque and is just over 10 sec in the quarter mile. it is a dually too, he takes off the 4 back tires and puts on two drag ties, otherwise it is a daily driver that gets 18+mpgs. Try doing that with a gas motor.
Gas and diesel is like comparing apples and oranges, but I still like my Grands They all have thier own purposes.

yeah I am with ya...been seriously giving thoughts on partin ways with the beloved jeep I have...gas isn't getting cheaper and there are far better options out there for hp and tq (which I love) and yet still get better mileage than whet I get now.

whenever I'm not in my heep I'm rollin' coal...
Im pretty confident that with the tune I have in her now I'm getting close to 400 HP with mid 700's of torque. I would never get rid of that truck. The Allison tranny is amazing.
