The 4.7 is a tad on the fragile side stock... Are you sure about this?

The speedfreaks.net. There are more than a few boosting the 4.7 with no issues.

You should probably get a Kolak exhaust going before putting on a supercharger, give the extra air room to flow out as well. I think there are a couple people here using the Kenn Belle (sp?) supercharger, but AFAIK, those are no longer made. 10achik might be one of the guys who has one, if I'm remembering correctly.

2003 WJ in Jeep Green Metallic, 4.0/242/4.10's. 4" Teraflex springs w/ RE monotube shocks and IRO short arms, cheap intake w/ amsoil filter, 2.5" hi flow cat and back exhaust, lots of lights and other misc crap.

Yeah. I'm not knocking the 4.7 but as a car buyer I see craploads of vehicles up for auction with dead 4.7s. WAY more than most any other engine other than the total POS Chrysler 2.7. The 2.7 is such a piece of crap that there are Stratus, and Intrepids everywhere with dead engines and they are worthless. Thanks Chrysler!

Get the HO cams/intake.

It boosts you 30hp for about $300, but you have to run premium.

Thats it???? Nothing has be done with the computer?

Why does it need premium then? The standard 4.7 compression ratio is far under the HOs.

It needs premium because of the upgrade internals being designed to run on it. But with the stock 4.7 computer, you don't have the feature in the HO computer that detects the usage of lower octane gas to retard the timing. It uses multiple knock sensors that don't exist on the regular 4.7 and thus there is no input on the computer. So you just have to default to premium gas.

Google chrysler 4.7 engine problems. You'll have 539,000 results to read up on.

Also, consider the mileage of your dub. High mileage engines aren't usually great forced induction candidates.

I say do it. Every engine has it's problems.

As mentioned above, theSPEEDFREAKS.net could be a good source of info. As you have seen, there aren't any kits being made for the 4.7. However, if you can find (or possibly have made) a plate that allows you mount a supercharger (it's different for different superchargers) on the engine, then making it work properly is doable. Making it work properly does require good knowledge of how supercharger systems work. It would be considerably simpler if there were a "turn-key" kit available.
