Sun/Moon Roof closing issue

I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee Laredo.
I can close the roof if I push the buttons at the right moment while the key is in the on position and the roof/glass will stay in a given/selected position. When I turn the key off, the roof/glass will automatically shut. However, 15 seconds later, the rear of the roof/glass pops up about 2 inches automatically. I have experimented with this by holding down both of the roof buttons at the same time, turning the key off and the roof/glass will stay shut until I let go of the button and 15 seconds later, the rear of the roof/glass will pop up. I need a solution other than a hammer.

Is it aftermarket? I was under the impression that 93s didn't come with sunroofs

Yes, it appears to be aftermarket. Very nice installation, looks factory, but, I'm told and all indications are that the 1993 did not have a factory sunroof.

thats what i thought.
well i know the factory sunroofs do not close when u turn the jeep off or lock it. or at least mine doesnt seem to.
try leaving it open then turning the jeep off and see if it closes without venting upwards

I've tried that. It closes as expected, then pops up into vent postion. I've tried holding the buttons down for several seconds as well. If I stop, 15 seconds later it pops up into vent posistion. I think it is out of sync and need to be re-synced, I just don't know the process.
