Suggestions on Shock Selection

1998, 4.0 / auto, 30 inch BFG A/Ts, no lift. Do some very light off-roading (canoe launches, etc) and tow a 20' boat.

Replacing the rear shocks next weekend - any suggestions? Figured I'd grab something from AutoZone:

Stock height? What's the budget and what type of ride do you want?

Edit: Just noticed you put no lift.

Yah, no lift. Budget - want the best bang for the buck. Wouldn't mind spending some extra cash but want to know what I'm getting for it. Ride - prefer smooth.

IDK if Autozone sells them, but stay away from Skyjackers. They don't call them Skycrapper's for a reason. They lead to a bone-jarring ride. I replaced them with a set of Bilsteins, and back to "wonderful-ness"...

How timely, I was just logging on to do a post to ask the same question Tom.....also have a 98, 4.0 w/ 30" tires and no lift.....still have the origional OEMs on there with 125K miles.

A buddy was telling me that KYBs were good bang for the buck and there are sets of 4 on eBay for a little over $100.
