Suggestions for a D44a build?

So far, I have a D44a with 3.73's and an open diff. My thoughts are (in this order)

1. MVC truss: Need a price on this
2. Aussie locker: $400 if I get a new one
3. BTF diff cover: $140

Will D35 rotors work on a 44a? Anyone tried this? Also, anything else I should add while I'm at it? I'm not sure there's much more in terms of aftermarket for the 44a.

Yes the rotors will swap over to the 44a.

I'd also like a price on the MVC truss.

Those BTF diff covers are BA though.

They are. Expensive as all hell, and the stamped one seems to be decent enough. My highest concern is getting that truss on there, though, as I don't mind wheeling with an open rear, and it would give me time to do the Aussie when I wanted. I assume prices on the Aussies are pretty much the same regardless of what company you buy it from?

That's about all you can do to a 44a except for Yukon shafts and a regear.

Good. I've got Stillen rear rotors ready to go on in that case. I'm thinking I'll either replace the calipers or use the ones from the turdy-5.

I could see it being possible . . . the aluminum center section has got to reduce some weight over an iron 44.

Nope, all iron 44's need new brackets welded on.

E code grand Cherokees had iron rears behind the v8. Good luck bringing it back from europe or africa.

yep, there was even an electronic locker version. so technically there are more than just aussie for lockers. not sure where to get the locker or if its even made any more.

to the OP if i remember right the MVC truss was like in the low $100s like $120 or something.

Excellent. I was anticipating $2-300 when I first got the 44a. All said and done, I doubt I'll end up spending more than $800 which I like. I figure this is at least a few hundred cheaper than putting an 8.8 under it.

I'll confirm it. I have picked up both and the D44a is notably lighter.

The front axle is always heavier (of comparable sizes) due to the steering knuckles.
