So, I know a few of you have done this. Can I see pictures of anyone that has built a subwoofer box to fit in that little cargo compartment in the back right corner of the cargo area? I'm considering getting a subwoofer but I don't want to sacrifice all the cargo space in the back. I'm not looking to make some crazy "bumpin'" "system", I just want to add a little bass because it gives just about any music some good depth and fuller sound. So it would be like one 8 or maybe a 10 if it'll fit. Also, show where you put the amp, I'm thinking I would put it under the back seat but I'm not sure.

Try the picture request forum. Might get a little bit more feedback.

There have been a few guys who have done this, including some with XJ's (Same idea) You'll have to most likely do a full custom job with fiberglass to get the best results. A shallow mount 10" would likely be your best bet.
Under the rear seat is a great place for the amp, that is where I have my 4-chan. Out of sight and easy to run wires there.

I was thinking I could make the box out of wood, but would it not work as well? I've never messed with fiberglass before.

Problem is there isn't much room to fit a square box, or one that is semi-contoured. If you were to make one with fiberglass, you could make it more form fitting and optimize the space, "tucking it away" and therefore keeping all your precious cargo room.

Search member SirFuego, I seem to remember a writeup he did about putting a sub/amp in the seat back of the backseat. It seemed to work very well, and looked very clean.

I got a box from Q-Customs (Crutchfield has them for $250 in several colors) it holds one 10" sub. Sounds awesome, amp sits under the rear seat in factory location (Alpine 5 channel).

I had one there but blew the amp(it was a remand jbl) I dont even have a pic of it. after learning how to fiberglass and practicing on some other stuff I modded a 5.9 sound bar to house two 8 inch speakers Im sure you could put subs in it. so this is what it looks like

i just have my amp under the rear passenger seat, plenty of circulation there for it so long as it isnt tall enough/mounted high enough so that it is touching the bottom of the seat.
and dont be afraid of fiberglass, its intimidating only until you start playing with it.
fiberglass forums is a site that had alot of info on it back when i was first learning. and i know there are a couple of writeups on that particular location here.
my glassed box.
