strange turn signal issue

I replaced the turn signal flasher with two different ines so far. Operation of signals and flashers is fine. Now the problem....... Both of the new flashers constantly click on and off ehen the key is on. The original flasher doesnt do it, I can unplug the turn signal switch and it still does it. I know I have the correct flasher, cross refferenced the original number. Anyone else ever experience this?????? ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!
