sticky speedo

my speedometer has been sticking every once in awhile....it stays at zero while i am cruising.....i have to tap on the dash to get it to start working...there have been times when i am driving and the speedometer just falls down to zero or if i am going over 65 and stop quickly the needle will fall past eighty and rest under the pin...it gets back up as i speed up and then have to tap on the dash for it to start working....i was wondering if anyone has this problem or knows what i should do to fix it.

Well I had a buddy who had the same problem with his 95 ZJ. He is not very mechanically inclined and just took it to the dealer. Works just like it should now.

What did the dealer charge for that?
