steering box shaft

well last night a was driving to work and part of the road was icy with a light amount of snow on it and i slid off the road way and hit a snow burm with dirt and rock i broke the steering box shaft clean off and lost all steering. and i blow a tire off the bead. if i buy it new/ rebuilt its going to cost me $155. i do know that a tow yard has a 95 jeep up for sale and i might buy that for the part. sents my wifes jeep needs a rearend this might be the way to go.
