SQUIB? what's a SQUIB?

For a while my Air Bag light has been coming on randomly and the jeep will chime at me. So a good buddy of mine plugged in his Snap-On "Solus" scan tool and it came out with this:
DRIVER SQUIB #1 CIRCUIT OPEN

we both looked at each other and said "what the heck does 'SQUIB' mean?"

We didn't have the time to start checkin every sensor on the driver's side, so I wrote it down and I'll have to work on it a bit later.

But does anyboby at all know what that means?

You need what is called a "clockspring." It is an electrical component that carries the signals from the steering wheel controls and airbag through the rotating wheel to the steering column wiring harness.

i take that back i found this def on google

"A Squib is someone who was born into a wizarding family but hasn’t got any powers"

hope that helps

A squib is a small explosive device which has a wide range of uses, such as generating mechanical forces as well as in pyrotechnic use. A squib can range in size from 2 to 15 millimetres in diameter. The squib, being an explosive device, releases a lot of energy, and can be used for shattering, triggering, propelling and cutting a wide range of materials.

Basically, a squib is used to deploy the airbag.

Squibs are not something to play with. We use them on airplanes to activate the fire extinguishing system of the engines.

Didn't realize they used the same thing in the airbag. Makes sense though.
