Squeeky noise coming from A/C Compressor???

Howdy folks,
I've noticed within the last week that I'm starting to get a little noise coming from what seems to be my A/C compressor near that back of the unit, I've tried spraying a little bit of WD-40 lubircant but the squeeky noise is still there. Has anyone ever heard of this? If so does it sound like I need to get my A/C compressor serviced/replaced? It doesn't get any louder or lower with the A/C on or off. Could it be the belt? I don't see any cracks or splits, It's not very loud but it's really getting to be annoying!! HELP!!!!

Thanks in advance,
-Sam Costa

First of all you should know WD40 is not a lubricant. It is a cleaner. Read the can. It could be the pully or even the clutch. Unless it drives you crazy I would not worry about it unless you can do your own a/c work and replace the compressor.

It sounds like the ac compressor or the clutch, if you don't know how to change any a part off the ac system I would advice to 1)get a Haynes manual and read up on it or 2)go to a reputable mechanic and have them change whatever part is broken. If you plan on working on the ac system I would strongly advice to be careful when draining the freon out of the system and then flush the system out so there's no debri that can clog it up.

Also you might want to check out your alternator bushing and idler pulleys. They can make a noise that echos in the engine compartment making you think its something else like the AC Compressor.
