Speed proportional steering box ?

I've searched and read all of the archives but I'm still confused. I have a 96 GCL 5.2 with the speed proportional steering and have leaks at the pump and steering gear. I plan to replace both but from my reading the steering gear box is different with this. No parts place including Mopar lists a different gear box. The pumps are listed as different but not the steering ear.

The steering gears are different, Mopar had a different part number for them. But it's a difference in the calibration of the valve ( http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f13/s.../#post34858753 ) not in actual hardware that would affect fit. The remanufacturers don't bother to sort cores and instead just identify them by vehicle application. The pump at least has an external difference and uses a different hose.

If you're replacing both, you might just consider installing the standard steering components since it's nearly impossible to find an SPS pump with the solenoid and fitting already installed. You'd have to swap yours over anyway.

That was my hope to just delete it. Thanks for the replies. I assume that I wont get some code or fault with the solenoid unplugged.
