Special custom rear bumper trim.

So I've had this stroke of brilliance lately, I woke up last saturday, and thought to myself "That rear bumper is boring". So i ripped it off. Now with the metal exposed under it, i have made plans to paint the metal part, then trim the rest of the bumper cover to give it a look similar to the Nissan Xterra bumper:

Thoughts? Anyone done something like this? I'm thinking it could turn out pretty cool, but very likely will look like trash, and I'll end up going to a jy for a new rear bumper. :shhh:

Oh and second pic is my ms paint version, (remember the metal will be black)

I think it could look badass if it's done right

this is how i did mine i used fender bolts{the ones you see when u open your hood} worked pretty well. i also took the plastic fender wells out.
and chopped like an inch or two off the bottom of the bumper.
and on the top of the bumper where plastic trim is,i cut the bumper cover about halfway inbetween the trim to outside so i dident have a big gat at the rear door.

Looks exactly like what I'm going for, have any pictures of the whole thing facing the back?

Edit: Oh wait didn't see the last picture. hahaha

Simple question, but did you just drill through the metal part of the bumper to attach it? I just painted the metal part last night and plan tp cut the plastic tonight, any pics of the installation by any chance?

Great idea. I'd totally do that if my reinforce bar wasn't mangled and pointing 30 degrees to the floor :p

I used self tapping screws to make the plastic fit better and used the stock top piece to attach to top of bumber dont cut those away or you will be putting screws through the top as well
