sparks?!

so i was wiring up my amp and subwoofers, i disconnected the negative battery terminal to wire the positive in and after i disconnected it the rem and 12v source wires touched what i believe to be the back side of the ac compressor. not really sure because i was still moving the ground to a place it wouldn't wiggle loose then all of a sudden sparks...

shortly after(kind of worried about it but nothing seemed abnormal) it wont start cranks but the i did have the doors open for the past 2 days while doing it, put it on a charger and it started but the distributor is making noises. however i already new i need to replace the unit sometime.

im leaning toward the fact that it is 10 degrees outside and i killed the battery, but at the same time it is a month old ever start with 850 cold cranking amps, other factors are that i haven't driven it in 2 weeks, i have started it up to move it in the garage and once more to angle it so i could open the doors.

so dead battery or something worst? i did check the fuses under the hood and they seemed fine

thanks in advance

yes rem as in remote, not rapid eye movement ha, but wire a toggle switch vs running it off the head unit. the head units have the same ability to turn it on and off but it is a pain to find the setting in the unit if the manual is lost like mine( dang po)
but it is supposed to be 40 today so ill try to start it up, it was on a charger all night so we will see, maybe ill take the battery to walmart and exchange it for a new one if it does not work

the good news is that is lives and the other is that after some more research the pcm does need to learn how to idle so after got it started and left my foot on it for about 5 minutes it stayed running, just in case anyone else searches and finds this thread looking for answers to a drained battery
