how do the w6's sound? I know the w7s of the mid 2000s where amazing. I am thinking of running a single w6 in my 300, in a sealed box.

I'm going to give my opinion and should not be taken as anything other than that. I've had experience with w7s and w6s neither of which were mine. I will start off with the w7, it is a good sub all around. It gets decently loud while having very good sound quality. I've heard them in ported boxes only but still lacked the ability to get real loud. As for the w6s, I've heard the newer ones and the older ones with the big JL logo on the dustcap. The newer w6s sound ok in sq and ok in spl, not really worth the price, still a very good sub, just severely overpriced. The older w6 got very loud while sounding good in the sq department. These older w6s would be the ONLY JL subs I personally would ever buy, they are pretty damn close to the perfect blend of sq and spl that JL ever got. Now if u really want something priced more realistically and still sound good in sq and spl, I would look into the FiQ 12. These are the company's sq sub, but get effing loud doing it! They are purchased factory direct, so no middle man mark up and can be had brand new for less than $300ea. Just ONE recommendation and something for u to look up and see if u may be interested. There are many GOOD sq subs out there, u just gotta do some research and see what fits ur budget. Hope this helps some.

With all this said, my overhead lights rattle a lot when a song gets heavy in bass. Anything I can do to stop this?

I love my w6s. I love the sq of it and it can get kinda loud if i push it. I have friends with w3s, kicker comps, and rockford punches and i think mine sounds the best. Its all about if you power it right.

Its alot easier to power a w6 than a w7. If your just going to run one w6 it might be better to go ported than sealed, get some more volume out of it.

I cant go ported, the box that fits in my Nissan is sealed. I don't think I can run a w6 also. I need to track down a shallow mount 12. I found one that may work though. I may use a JL 500/1 amp though.

Kenwood 6.5" KFC-B1610 in each door
Kenwood KAC-9152D amp for the subs
Kenwood KAC-744 amp for the doors

Now I need a cap and new tweeters

Kenwood p709s 6.5" components for the front doors, haven't wired in the tweeters to the dash yet.. still figuring out how I should mount that (PM me if you know how to wire in a 1" dome tweeter to the factory dash mounts)
Unsure of brand but I have two 6.5" sub woofers for the rear doors since my 6.5" Kenwood coaxials would only produce bass.
Kenwood P509 5.25" components for the rear sound bar
Stock infinity amp

Yet to install, my 10" Alpine Type R sub powered by an Alpine M1005 monoblock amplifier running 4 gauge power
Again, unsure of where to run the power cable through the firewall, can someone shoot me a PM on how they do it? I've seen a few places I could on the driver side but my cable isn't long enough, and I want to go through the passenger side.

My little setup is nothing special and I did it on a tight budget. JVC KD-R530 HU, MB Quart PVI-216 6.5" Components up front, MB Quart DSC-450 Discus 4 channel amp and I'm experimenting with a 10" FLi Acid Series sub in a "sonotube" enclosure. I got the sub for cheap to play with and it actually sounds pretty good. I also have a JBL 12" sub here I may use at some point, but the FLi sub is still getting broken in.

I like the JVC HU because of the ability to fine tune the EQ settings. The MB Quart components are solid and by themselves provide a good amount of bass. The Discus amp suits my needs and will drive the speakers to the point of being painfully loud, yet still well defined. The jury is still out on the sub, but the more hours I put on it the better it sounds.

A good system for a reasonable investment so I'm happy.

I just went through my Photobucket and I don't have any photo's of my system that I had in my Grand Am. But since I replaced the Grand Am with my ZJ, it's time to transfer things around a little.

I had some sort of Pioneer double din in the Grand Am, don't remember the model or anything, but it cost me $400 so whatever the one is in that range lol. But since I don't want to hack up the dash in the ZJ I'm gonna throw my Kenwood KVT-617 out of my Mustang in it. It's kinda old school in terms of touchscreens, but has far more adjustments than my current Pioneer in the ZJ which came with it, and I have no clue how to use it. The Mustang will get a new center console and the double din Pioneer in it.

Subs will be my American Bass XD 15's in a custom ported box. I have 2 boxes for them, both ported, and one significantly larger than the other, but the big one needs to be put back together. I pulled the top off the big one to try to get it to fit and well, it didn't. And I don't feel like dragging it out of my room now lol. So the smaller one will have to do.

On the subs I'll have my RE Audio XT-4000D V2 wired to 1ohm.

I've got some Rockford 6.5's that maybe I'll toss in the front doors, and maybe snag the other set of them out of my Camaro and put those in the rear doors. If I do that then I'll put them on my Rockford T400-2.

When all is said and done I'll snap some shots for ya guys
