This sound stupid but my oil cap won't come off
All it does is click and turn, it doesn't come off, it's really gay.
Oh, and its a 99 WJ.

Righty tighty, lefty loosy right?
I had that on my old Durango where the dealership over tightened the cap. Ended up having to break off the top of the cap, then using plires to unscrew it. It sucked.

I believe I heated the valve cover with a propane torch when that happened to me. Can't recall exactly but it came off and worked since.

Doesn't sound stupid at all. Sounds like the ratcheting device that lets you know when you've got it tight enough has started ratcheting backwards.
I seem to remember a post some time ago where the member had to snap off the top of the cap as Arlo mentioned.

This is exactly how I get my oil filler cap off everytime. Pop the top off and use pliers to turn the threaded part out!! I think I am just going to epoxy the whole thing together one of these days. Who cares about the clicky!

Why would you want to take it off? It isn't like you're supposed to put anything in that hole??

Just fresh oil.... I guess when your tranny blows up you don't really need to worry.

I thought you had to put a little into the filter and start up the jeep, then repeat.

I just tip my jeep upside down, and pour it back into the drain hole
