sort of newb Q (tire wear)

So... long ago I was told that my front tires will wear faster than my rears but that was back when i was running a 249 now that i have a 231 is this still the case? It is a DD that only sees 4wd once a month or so. most of my miles are street and in RWD.

They should wear the same as long as you rotate them.

Was is hard to swap the 249 to a 231?

My wifes ZJ has a 249 and I just swapped my 89 xj's 242 out w/a used 242, so I'm thinking of rebuilding it and putting it in the ZJ.

Tire wear usually depends on the vehicle and driver habits. If you do a lot of city driving (turning) you will probably see more frt tire wear. If you have a heavy foot (not that a 4.0 is a tire shredder) or rear locker you will probably see more rear tire wear.

A proper alignment will also help tire wear on the front.
