Some opinions....new to zj

Well guy's I had a beautiful '99 xj....no lift, just crager's, subs and such. 2 weeks ago, some lady in a honda hit me, and totalled my xj. I began my search for another xj, and came across a zj for 1600. I figured it was a p.o.s. but the dealer was just trying to get rid of it. I scored a deal. I have a fine to pay off, but other than that, I'm bringing in as much cash as possible. In the sping I plan on getting the bumpers painted, cragers, and all terrains. I've known from friends that zj's were more expensive to lift, but holy hell. What do you guy's recommend? I'd be fine with 2.5 in spacers and 33's. I'm guessing 33's because a buddy of mine fit 31's on a stock zj. (and yes I said 2.5in spacers. the same buddy found them online somewhere....idk) But what do you guy's recommend lift wise. I think I am going to go with a rustys 3.5 in lift eventually.....but spacers so I can get the tires that I want...

You arent going to clear 33s with 2.5 inch spacers without a good amount of trimming. I had 31's on mine before i got the IRO 3.5 and they only rubbed when backing out of steep driveways. With the lift Im running 32s right now and although I want to move up to 33s I doubt that is going to work out. The rear tire is just too close to the front of the wheel well

I got the IRO 3.5'' lift and just put 33s on. The front rubs on the control arms at full turn but I am on stock rims so once I get some Cragars I will be fine. I am going to trim a little behind the rear doors to make sure I do not rub. So if you want to run 33s you really need 3.5'' or more of lift.

well i'm telling you right now, there's no way you're gonna fit 33's w/ 2.5in of lift.

i can only fit 32's w/ 4in of lift and no rubbing. you could fit 31's at 2.5 lift. idk how he fit 31s w/o trimmin on a stock zj.

anyways as far as lift is concerned. 2.5in spacers are spacers just find the cheapest ones (as long as they're polyurethane)

but i'd go w/ a real lift. iron rock offroad, rusty's, rough country are all good manufacturers. you can also contact nick from kolak performance on here. he's great to get parts from.

I think a F>R swap wouldn't cost that much more.

A Front to Rear swap will net you ~3" of lift and you can fit 33's with a little trimming no problem.
