The ARB i saw was on our local 4x4 shop owners dub (i posted on his leaf sprung rear), he had left a nasty dent about the size of my fist on the side, didn't protect his fender worth a damn

Okay,

so one guy dented his fender. Mine didn't protect either of my mirrors but it wasn't the bumpers fault, it was mine aka the driver's.

What he said. Once you actually start wheeling it, you will know what he means.
If for some reason you not ready for better bumper, get some tow hooks. They will be much more useful for ya.
As far as sliders go, Kevins,JKS, JCR etc are all good. It's just matter of preference and price.

Well what does an ARB weigh...100lbs? The ARB is made out of 3/16" steel and 1/4" for the bracketry.

If you want an entire bumper out of 1/4" it'll way a whole lot more...Then again if you hit anything hard enough it'll dent so where do you stop? Dents are part of the game

I hit my ARB, not too hard, and there isn't even a dent. I bet if it would be stock bumper it would crack for sure.

clicky

Don't worry about the air bags... the sensors are really back in the crumple zones in the fenders, so bumper impacts don't effect it much.

You need to see some of the vids of people ramming their ARB's & Trailready bumpers into the rock in Moab...they just slam them into the rock to "aim" their front end up giant ledges

The ZJ bumpers are a lot less bulky its not fair
