Smell of gas?

occasionally ill get a smell of gas in the cabin also when i get out its there for just a couple seconds,

Are these jeeps known to have any gas leak problems? or is the smell normal?

its not super strong, but i can tell its there.

Most likely the exhaust manifold is cracked. Common 4.0 problem.

Eyeball the fuel rail quickly after you get out. Could be a leaking injector oring, but the gas evaporates instantly on a hot motor.

Yeah there's your problem. I think my 93 has the same problem but I smell gas and oil lol. At 168xxx miles even.. I really smell it when I let off of the gas at highway speeds

Hmm.. thought you would have mentioned that in your other thread..

What happens is air will enter the cracks in the header, the o2 sensors picks up to too much oxygen passing this onto the PCM, which in turn signals the injectors to dump more fuel in for a lean condition, and the fuel mixture ends up way too rich. Hence the smell of fuel which will eventually clog the cat.

Luckily on the 4.0 it isnt hard to replace.. I would get a new one or one from a JY and fix it..
