Sluggish??

My 97 GC is a I6. This is my first jeep so I'm not sure how these are supposed to drive. When I'm driving up hill (mainly on highways, but have noticed once on backroads) The jeep seems to have no power. It seems to struggle up hill unless I really push on the gas.

The car doesn't accelerate much unless the gas is really pressed. Is this common? If not what could be causing this?

the 4.0 is not much to power that heavy of a vehicle (i got one in my wj, alot heavier than your zj) All i can say is try a general tune up (spark plugs, wires, air filter) and with a 10 year old engine, I would look into seafoam, works like a charm, but not more than once a year, but that would require an oil change. Check your tire pressure (low tires take more work to move). good luck

about $50-$60 can have you running great, but it is still a heavy vehicle with somewhat poor aerodynamics, so i cant promise leaps and bounds, but it could help
