the 4.0 is not much to power that heavy of a vehicle (i got one in my wj, alot heavier than your zj) All i can say is try a general tune up (spark plugs, wires, air filter) and with a 10 year old engine, I would look into seafoam, works like a charm, but not more than once a year, but that would require an oil change. Check your tire pressure (low tires take more work to move). good luck
about $50-$60 can have you running great, but it is still a heavy vehicle with somewhat poor aerodynamics, so i cant promise leaps and bounds, but it could help
