Siping Tires

I just bought some goodyear Wrangler radials from wally world for $55 each. (I know, but im a poor student) since it snows alot and is icy up where i live, would siping my tires help me out? what are the pros and cons of doing this. And how would this be done if i were to do it myself, just a razor blade and a saturday afternoon? anyone do this to their tires and want to give some advice? thanks!

i dont know how it will be on a jeep. but a couple of years ago i put the same tires on my 1986 toyota pickup. these tires look wimpy as hell, but they were actually great. i drive 30 miles each way to and from work on the interstate and when the roads got slushy and occasional slick spots i had no problem at all. as a matter of fact i used 4wd very little that year. they did decent when playin in the mud, but as far as bad road conditions the were perfect, they work just as well in the rain. but as i said this was a toyota truck which is a lot lighter vehicle

I siped my MTR's on my YJ and it made a huge difference in the snow. The grooves really bite strong. They made my mud terrains snow terrains. Well worth it.
