Signal bulb help

My left signal was flashing fast...as in one of my bulbs were out. The front side signal bulb was dead, so i replaced it, but not with a yellow bulb, it was a white one instead. The signal still flashes fast. Could it be because it's a different color bulb as in it's drawing more/less power? Would putting a yellow one fix the problem?

The same thing happened to me. I've replaced both of my front turn signal bulbs (yellow) and they flash fast when my foot is on the brake but flash at a normal rate when I take my foot off of the brake. My guess is that it has to do with the resistance of the bulbs. Sorry that I don't have the bulb number handy.
