Side-View Mirror Question

Ok, back in December on a wheeling trip, I hit a tree with my side view mirror and it broke off. One of the plastic ear pieces that holds the rod that the 2 springs attach too broke, allowing one spring to slip off and come loose inside the mirror as well. Now, I took the mirror off the door and put everything back to where is was suppose to be. Well, my problem is that the top spring got streched out so the mirror wouldn't fit tight to the body. Well, I put a band-aid on it by putting some adhesive in between the body and mirror. Well, that didn't hold up to any pressure. Well, in an attempt to fix it again, the top spring came undown again. Now, most mirrors I have seen online are un-painted and close to a $100.

So now onto the question, is there a kit out there that includes new springs for the mirror? If not, does anyone know if all the mirrors on ZJ mount the same so that I could just buy a used, cheap mirror, and get the springs out of it? Or, if not, can anyone recommend a really strong adhesive that would work?

I have 1994 ZJ and mirror came off in my hands while getting gas and gently rubbing mirror with wet paper towel. I could see end of white plastic piece and then spring piece assy. which slid out of my sight inside of mirror. There has been nothing wrong with electric mirror (ele defrost too) until now. I did notice on earlier gas-ups that the mirror seemed loose as I wiped clean but I was not going to provoke breakage at that moment since I rely on it immediately. I am not afraid to dismantle and work on anything but money and time are always a factor. Right now I am going to need the mirror and I think that I will duct tape it back on- that way I can see. I cannot figure out why that it did not fall off with all of the pot hole roads here in IA, but it did not. I want to know what it is that I did with my cleaning that caused this? I cannot yet find pictures of the interior components of this thing. I do not know if there are two springs or not, but that it reminded me of a rusty old CJ2A brake spring!

what kind of adhesive did you use ? Some are super super strong and flexable.. E6000 for example can stretch 10x past its original form and spring back to normal. You can buy this in walmart or any auto part store. Only problem is it takes 24-72 hours to cure. But its much stronger then a 2 part glue
