Should I trade my 96 ZJ for a Niner?

I've read jeepforum for awhile, right now, my jeep is stock (lost my last one (a 93 zj) to a drunk driver in April) and I happened to drive by a dealership today that has a niner sitting around just begging for me to buy it.

Mine is a 1996 GC Laredo w/ 4.0L i6.

Obviously I would love a niner, but at 187k miles, is it even worth getting?

Yeah, mine has 127.5k

I was thinking that mine as a trade in, and $2000 wouldn't be a bad price to pay for it, considering since I got mine in May I've done pretty much everything to it. (New rear shocks (yesterday), new battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil change, new tires, etc)

Absolutely cuz my niner is at 298680 and still runs like new (knocks on wood )

I'm going to test drive it on Monday. If the guy isn't willing to budge on the price, I'll pass. I found two more 5.9s within a days drive with considerably less miles for 4k and 5k respectively.

Do you know about doing the tight figure 8's in a parking lot to see if they have a bad VC ?

I would do your Jeep plus $1200-$1500 depending on the overall condition of the niner. If the sales person doesn't like it, then go look at the others near you.

1995 ZJ 5.2L V8 318. 230,000 miles and still rollin.

You need to set some rules first. If you drive a 4.0 now, and make your decision based off of the test drive alone, then you'll be going home with the niner. I effin' LOVE my 5.9!

Want to buy: Drivers side door panel for my 98 5.9 limited!

Yeah my old one was a 5.2 and I miss it so much, I can't imagine what my thoughts will be going from a 4.0 to 5.9. If he isn't willing to budge on the price I think I'm not going to bother period.

I would if it's in good shape. It's a bit expensive though. Mine at 127 was 4500. I think he is asking too much. You have to test drive it and go over it with a fine tooth comb. I had my last v8 for 225k and it was running strong when I sold it. I beat it up pretty bad as well. (avatar pic)

Just got an offer from a friend of the family. If the guy doesn't offer me enough for my Jeep, and I want this one, he'll buy my Jeep so I can go down there with Cash and get the Niner. Awesome!

Drove down to get a coffee while I wait for this place to open, there was at most 1/4 of an inch of snow on the ground. Brand new tires, still ended up sliding around in both 4LO and 4HI. Gave up and put it back in 2WD, and when I went for my first turn, my front tires kicked back and almost made me hit a telephone pole.


VC is about dead then?
